Whodunnit Book Group

Group Organiser Pat Wherton"click bird to contact"

A group for those who enjoy a good murder.

We’ll be looking at the history of Detective Fiction, the writers and the characters they’ve created. How did these puzzles, set to tease the reader, capture the imagination all across the world? How did it become the biggest single bestseller genre that keeps cinema and TV audiences entertained and coming back for more? Generally accepted as the first of it’s kind, we’re starting with Edgar Allen Poe as he navigates the ‘Murder in the Rue Morgue’

Given that we can’t meet, the group will read each book on the list provided for the next six months, comment on their experience, and share opinions on the writing style, clues noticed or not, and conclusion – did it satisfy or disappoint?

New members are welcome to join at any time.

A list of the books we are planning to explore can be downloaded here: History of the Whodunnit
