Temporary Group Leader Norman Redican

All group activity was interrupted by Covid-19 and Government restrictions. However, the lifting of restrictions on July 19th 2021 means that most groups can consider meeting again, if they haven't already done so.

Please revisit our group pages soon to see the new plans that are being put in place for the remainder of 2021 and into 2022, or contact temporary Group Leader Norman Redican for up to date information.

Pre-Covid Information

The idea is to visit theatres within easy reach of Sutton Bridge and Long Sutton, for both professional and amateur productions. The aim is to see a production each month, with the occasional coffee/tea morning to discuss what has been seen.

The group now has a membership of 36 U3A members. Since the last General Meeting we have been to see '42nd Street' - The Musical, live from Theatre Royal in Drury Lane at Westacre Theatre, 'Ruddigore' by Gilbert & Sullivan performed by West Norfolk Gilbert & Sullivan Society at The Guildhall, Kings Lynn and The Crime and Comedy Company presenting 'Revenge' at Blackfriars Theatre, Boston.
The following is an excerpt from an email 'Thank you for suggesting a visit to The Guildhall, Kings Lynn. Meeting up with fellow Theatre Group members for a quick lunch before moving to The Guildhall was very enjoyable. Never having visited The Guildhall before, I found entering the theatre an amazing experience, the structure, ambiance and friendliness within was astonishing. As for the West Norfolk Gilbert & Sullivan Society ? What a fantastic performance....It's hard to put into words how much I enjoyed the show, it was fantastic. In the past, my late husband and I enjoyed so many such like shows, but due to circumstances this hadn't happened for many, many years. Thank you Norman for re-introducing me to live theatreā€.
Another Gilbert & Sullivan Comic Opera has been added to our programme of theatre trips - 'The Mikado' a revival of the Jonathan Miller classic production staged in 1986. A film: English National Opera Live on Friday 27th March at 1.00pm (afternoon) at The Guildhall, Kings Lynn.
There is no limit to the membership of the Theatre Trips Group, so why not join us? You book your own tickets direct with the theatre and we meet up in the bar before the performance and in the interval for a drink and a chat. A new programme of Theatre Trips will be published shortly and a Coffee/Tea afternoon for members will be organised in mid March.
