The group started with its first visit on 27th January 2015 when we went to the BBC at the Mailbox.

This was followed by a visit to the Assay Office in Birmingham, a trip to the Empire Cinema, Sutton Coldfield to see the Royal Operas House’s Swan Lake’s live performance.

It was followed by visits to the Whistle Factory near the Jewellery Quarter, a guided Heritage Walking Tour of Birmingham and a visit to the Coventry Transport Museum.

We also went the British Library in London to see the Magna Carta Exhibition and visited the Morgan Car Factory, the Back to Backs in Birmingham, had a backstage tour of the Symphony Hall and went to the Newman Brothers Coffin Works in the Jewellery Quarter.

We went to the Christmas Market at Waddesdon Manor and saw the Christmas Lights display there and finished 2015 with a Carol Concert at the Symphony Hall.

In 2016 we started by going to the Electric Cinema and went to Lichfield Cathedral, the World of Wedgewood, had a “Peaky Blinders” tour and went to the cinemas and lunched at Barton Marina.

This was followed by visits to Bletchley Park, Dudley Canals, the Barber Institute, Kew Gardens and to St Mary’s Convent, Oscott.

Somehow, we fitted in a walking tour of Wolverhampton, seeing the church and museum and a visit to the Guide Dogs for the Blind

A trip to the Houses of Parliament enabled us to see both the House of Lords and the House of Commons and we again finished the year with a Carol Concert at the Symphony Hall.

We started 2017 with a visit in January to St Mary’s Convent and in February we went to the National Brewery Centre in Burton and did a tour of the New Alex Theatre in Birmingham.

March had us at the Barton Arms for a tour of the pub followed by a meal and April took us to the Richard III Museum and the Bosworth’s Visitor Centre and in May we went to the RAF museum at Cosford.

A coach took us to Cadburys House and Bournville in June and another coach took us to Oxford to give members a day to explore on their own in July.

August took us to the Botanical Gardens for a Falconry Display and September was a very successful coach trip to Chatsworth House.

In October we went to the Ruskin Glass centre and November has us on a tour of the BBC in Birmingham.

We again did our Symphony Hall Carol Concert in December and we finished 2017 with a visit to the Laser Light Show at Lichfield Cathedral.

We started 2018 with a visit to St Mary’s College, Chester Road, New Oscott in January and did a Balti Tour in February.

In March we had a tour of Coventry Cathedral and April took us to Windsor Castle where the Wedding Preparations were in progress.

The Jewellery Quarter tour was next in May and it was a visits to Chester in June and Bath in July.

It was Blenheim Palace in September and Gloucester Docks in October.

November saw us at the Ludlow Medieval Fayre and our December trip was to The Garrick Theatre in Lichfield to see “Crimes of the Christmas Pudding”.

The Out and About Group arrange a visit/trip each month and also the weekly “Walk in the Park” which takes place on Tuesday, meeting at the Visitor Centre, Sutton Park Town Gate at 10 for 10.15 am start, it lasts about an hour and fifteen minutes.
