Under the leadership of our Tutor, we read a chosen novel. When we meet, we are encouraged to discuss the implications of the novel's background, the period in which it is set, characters and story line. The life and work of the author is also covered.
Choices range from early to modern classics. We also explore the new writers whose titles have appeared in well-known Book Lists or who are winners of major book prizes.
Our discussions are lively and raise many issues relating to the human condition. Occasionally, a play-reading or poetry session is introduced. We have an average attendance of sixteen members and new members are very welcome.
