We meet at the Jetty, opposite the Quay Theatre on Friday mornings from 9.30 to 12.30 during term time.
Basic skills are taught through personally chosen small projects.
Beginners are welcome as well as experienced woodcarvers.
Wood is available to buy and advice is given on choice of wood. Tools are on loan during class for those who are getting started and advice is given on purchasing tools for beginners. Old tools can be renovated, and supervised help and tuition is available for sharpening tools - sharpening equipment is available in class.
Each person attending should have a "Workmate" which can be purchased for about £15 at most DIY stores, or perhaps bought secondhand.
We have a refreshment break with hot drinks and biscuits available.
Members usually attend either every week or once a fortnight. There is a charge to cover room hire of around £2.50 per session, depending on the number of participants.
