Our group, Garden Visits, only meet now and then, mainly when we have something to arrange or want ideas. We use the Foster Room next to the Church now and it isn’t readily available on odd days here and there – we just have to take what we can get. We contact our members by e-mail to let them know what is happening. Any one interested in joining our group can always ring or e-mail us.
See the photos from Jack and Roz's lovely garden in Hill Head. We were royally refreshed with tea and coffee and some really yummy home made cakes.
As well as opening their garden through the NGS scheme, they very kindly opened it exclusively
for us. Jack has now joined U3A and particularly the Jazz appreciation group
Our Garden Visits Group went to Lydiard Park, Swindon on Thursday 19th October but unfortunately the trees in the 260 acre Parkland weren’t in their full Autumn glory. The weather was very grey dull and drizzly so we were very pleased to have the guided tour of the stunning, restored Palladian mansion and the exquisite 800 year old church to explore, both exceeding our expectations. Don’t be put off because it all belongs to the Swindon Borough Council, it is well worth a visit, and the 1740s Georgian walled garden is a must especially in Spring - see photos.
