Once you have told Margaret you want to join the Cinema Group she will pass the numbers on to the co-ordinator of the Solent (Fareham) group who co-ordinates the total numbers of attendees from various local U3A's. You will then receive, by e-mail, information each month.
It is advisable to arrive about 10.00am. and the film starts at 10.30am. The new cost for 2020 will be £3.75, this is still very good value for money. Also please bring your membership card for random checks.

THE STUBBINGTON U3A CINEMA GROUP HAS BEEN SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
On 11 Mar 2021,
Dear Stubbington Cinema Group Members
It has unbelievably been a year since we saw our last film in March 2020! I am sure that none of us could have imagined that we would have been deprived of the film-going pleasure for so long. However, we have been fortunate that there have been so many good films, etc on the television on various channels. Several of the films which we have seen with the group have been shown and it has been good to re-watch some of them, especially “The Good Liar”.
Whilst it still seems to be some way off until we shall all be able to resume seeing films at Reel Cinema again, there is some good news on the horizon! I did have fears that the Reel Cinema may become a victim of the pandemic and have to close down, but they have been rescued! I am copying below (in italics) extracts from ‘The News’ article:
Government Grant from the Culture Recovery Fund
Grants totalling £5m have been handed out by the British Film Institute (BFI) on behalf of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, with Reel Cinema being one of the 33 cinemas to receive a boost.
Reel Cinemas have been awarded £1.5m to support 13 multiplexes, with Fareham’s Market Quay setting to receive £115,385 to help secure its future. This will enable them to pursue all opportunities to protect the jobs of every staff member at Reel Cinemas, and to enable the cinemas to reopen, when permitted, to continue to serve our communities.
Although this is good news, from a practical point of view, I do not envisage being able to resume visits to the cinema for some time until all the restrictions have been removed and we are able to socialise freely again, aided by the deployment of the vaccine. I will keep you posted as the situation improves.
In the meantime keep well, stay safe and enjoy the film offerings on the TV.
Cinema Group Leader
