New Activities

Stroud U3A are continually looking to start new activity groups. These groups can range from a simple walking group to an art history study group. We have around 56 activity groups at the moment, but there is plenty of room for more. We will always welcome any new ideas. Here’s a possible selection, extracted from the national U3A website:

Archaeology Architecture Astronomy Ballroom Dancing
Canasta Classics Climate Change Crafts
Cryptic Crosswords Current Affairs Cycling – Social Earth Sciences
Folk Dancing Genealogy Geology History
Jazz Languages Magic Maths & Stats
Meditation Memory Maintenance Mindfulness Music – Playing
Opera Painting & Drawing Petanque Philosophy
Psychology Puppetry Science & Technology Shakespeare
Sociology Story Telling Table Tennis Walking Football
Walking Rugby Wine Appreciation World Faiths Yoga

When new ideas are received, we will advertise them in our internal bulletin and newsletter and ask if anyone else is interested. We generally need around half a dozen people to make a group viable. What will be popular seems to be almost impossible to forecast. The ‘cycling for softees’ group is struggling with 4 members. However, when we had a call about a possible Mahjong group …… within 3 weeks, they had 15 members!

Please do send in your ideas for new Stroud U3A activity groups to New Activities.
