Bus Safari
This group has become an established part of Stourbridge U3A and was created to encourage the use of bus and train travel in the local area and beyond.
Normally we have two trips a month- one during the week and a longer trip on Saturdays. The weekday trips have visited Shrewsbury, Upton upon Severn, Kenilworth, Burbage , Worcester, Pershore and many others. Often we use a short train journey to start and then transfer to a local bus.
The longer trips on Saturdays have visited Belper, Melton Mowbray, Ashbourne, Ilkeston, Oswestry to give a flavour of what we do.
The group is very friendly and all I ask is that people come with a spirit of adventure and be prepared for the unexpected as it is, after all, public transport.
All members have the local West Midlands Travelpass and many have Senior Rail cards which give a 33% discount. This costs £30 so you only need to spend £90 a year on rail to make the card worthwhile.
Some people bring sandwiches for lunch ,others go into a local teashop. Often there is a town trail leaflet which the leader will use to give a short guided walk of the town visited after which people disperse until it is time to meet up for the return journey. PLEASE NOTE THAT NOBODY WILL BE ON THIER OWN WALKING AROUND AS THE LEADER ALWAYS ENSURES THAT EVERONE HAS A COMPANION .
