Astronomy
Welcome to the astronomy group. We are a small but very friendly group so come and join us.

We are now meeting at the Oakfield centre at 10am on the second Monday of the month.
We have looked at the following topic in the last few months.
August The asteroid belt
September First Light from the James Webb telescope
October Ken gave us an update on everything Martian and in November we watched 7 days on Mars by Brian Cox
December we will be watching a Steve Barrett talk about the Star of Bethlehem and an update on the Artemis programmes well as planning our programme for the coming year.
January we watched The Beginning of Everything by Steve Barrett and on Monday 16th we are going as a group to hear Steve Barretts latest talk entitled The End of Everything.
We had an excellent evening at Bromsgrove Astronomical Society on the 16th January, Steve Barrett is an excellent speaker and we will continue to use his outreach talks in our group.
We also watched two more videos about Artemis and will watch a third one next time.
At the April meeting Nick, one of group , gave us a presentation about Mercury.
He captured a picture with his mobile phone which is shown in the picture section.
At our meeting Monday 10th July Nick, one of our group, gave a short presentation and we watched YouTube links about the recent launch of the new Euclid telescope looking for dark matter and dark energy.
The display in the window at Waitrose will be showcasing the Astronomy group in November.
On Monday 14th August we will be looking at YouTubes about the Sun and any current astronomy news.
October's meeting had two members giving presentations about our nearby stars and the psyche mission and then a YouTube video about the size of stars and the return of the sample from the osiris rex mission.
The November meeting will be led by Michael Bryce so please come and support him. Martin will be explaining about the citizen science mission we hope to take part in and there is a lecture from Gresham College lined up about the end of massive stars.
Our meeting on Monday 12th of February included a presentation by Nick one of our members and a section on Ingenuity the Mars helicopter which has reached its end.
