Stokesley & District

In recent months, despite many requests, we have had considerable difficulties in finding volunteers to assist with setting up the room for the monthly meetings and clearing up etc. afterwards. This is often also true of other necessary tasks like meeting/greeting members, making tea/coffee, helping at group meetings and so on.

It is important for all U3A members to remember that this is an organisation managed by volunteers, and it is unfair and unreasonable to expect a relatively small number of loyal volunteers to do everything. This is your organisation and you need to support it.

The committee has even begun discussing the possibility of reducing the number of meetings to bi-monthly or even less if we do not have sufficient volunteers to help. With this in mind, we will set up an aptly named “Really Useful Group” (RUG) of volunteers we can call on.

Clearly, if the group is large enough then each volunteer will only be needed occasionally, say a couple of times a year. Those who want to do more are, of course, most welcome and greatly appreciated.

If you are willing to help, please complete a volunteering form at one of the monthly meetings or download it by clicking on the link below.

Many thanks to those who have volunteered in the past, and hopefully to our new, expanded group.
