LIFE DRAWING
The life drawing group meets on the fourth Thursday afternoon of every month, except December. Meetings are in one of the Stokesley Community Care Activity Rooms, from 1.30 to 3.30pm.
In order to allow everyone to do some drawing at each session members take turns to sit as models for the rest of the class. This requires remaining reasonably still for periods of up to twenty minutes. Models remain fully clothed.
The aim is to explore ways of capturing the human form either in its entirety or in part. For instance some might choose to focus on the face or on, for instance, a hand or foot, while others would wish to attempt the whole body.
There is no requirement for drawing experience and there is a wide range of participants. No tuition is provided but it is hoped that group members will extend and develop their drawing skills over time. Members should bring their own drawing materials.
Format is flexible to accommodate the needs and wishes of the group. For instance, it has proved interesting and useful to take turns for short poses enabling a number of rapid sketches.
