Walking - Intermediate (5-7m.)
Welcome to the Stokesley U3A Intermediate Walks Group.
At the moment this walking group is full and we are not currently taking any new members (to avoid individual walks becoming too big and unsafe). However, any prospective new members should contact the group leader, Catherine Wright and ask to be placed on a waiting list. The group membership will be reviewed regularly and people on the waiting list will be contacted when any places become available.
We walk on the second Thursday of the month. Walks are approximately 5 to 7 miles over mixed terrain, including some steep sections and uneven paths eg heather tracks, stony and boggy paths. Walkers are expected to be equipped with appropriate clothing and food, including walking boots and wet weather gear as appropriate.
Walks usually include a morning coffee stop and a lunch break, and we also often finish in a pub or tea shop for a drink after the walk (for those who wish to stay).
There is a set of Health and Safety guidelines for the group. These will be given to new members (and circulated to members on an annual basis).
Members of the group lead walks and details of the next walk are sent to group members a week or two before the walk date. Members are then asked to contact the walk leader beforehand to say that they wish to join their walk (some walks may be limited with numbers). They should also contact the walk leader if they need further information.
For any further details or information about the group please contact the Group Leader Catherine Wright
Pam Robinson is taking over as Group Leader in March.
