We hope to reopen the Art History group in October if the Community Care Centre give the go-ahead. I will aim to book rooms for Thursdays October 7th, November 4th and December 2nd.
In the New Year, Marjorie Homer will resume as leader of the group.
Our last meeting was in March 2020 when I had started a series of six talks on Women Artists from the Renaissance to the Present Day and we were beginning to work through a series of lectures on DVD called Masterworks of American Art given by Professor William Kloss.. I think the best plan will be to start both of these series of talks from the beginning when we resume.
I also want to start a new feature which will involve greater involvement by members. This will involve a discussion amongst members of one or two paintings. Comments can range over almost anything you want to say about the painting displayed. Art is a discussion, a conversation we have both with ourselves and others. A great pleasure is to discuss painting with a group of people. Hopefully we will get lots of different views.
As before we will also welcome talks by members on a favourite artist or painting, volunteers please.
