This group is for anyone with an interest in science - whether or not they have a scientific background. Don’t worry if you haven’t had a scientific education - or if it was a long time ago - the only requirement is an interest in learning about science and technology issues which affect us all in our daily lives.
The aim is to discuss topics in a way that the “experts” can help the “non-experts” to understand the issues. Many of the most interesting and searching questions come from the non-scientists.
Science Group meetings are held in the Brunton Room of the Town Hall starting at 14:00 on the 4th Wednesday of each month. The full schedule is listed below.
One of the group usually leads the discussion (or sometimes we use a suitable DVD) for 40 to 50 minutes then we have a question and (hopefully !) answers session. The topics for the next few months are:
25 March 2020, - The Science of Pain , Alan Frawley
22 April 2020, - Astronomy, Pof Don Kurtz
27 May 2020, - Gravity, Peter Atkinson
