Monthly general meetings are held at Methodist Central Hall in the Strand, Longton, ST3 2JH, on the last Thursday of each month. Doors open at 1.30pm for a 2pm start.

A range of activities are organised, including guest speakers, music, Jacobs Table, quiz, etc. Free parking is available on the Tesco Car Park which is only a short walk away.

Jazz Study Day 2018
U3A subject adviser for Jazz, Mike Rance has arranged for band leader and master of the saxophone and clarinet, Alan Barnes, along with his eight piece all-star band to lead our Jazz Study Day on September 19th at Westminster Cathedral Hall. Book at,

‘We the Curious’
Workshops and Sense Re-wired Show at Bristol Science Centre. It seems that instead of just 5 senses, we might have 33!

On 20th September, U3A members are invited to enjoy a day out with a difference. On a journey through the biology, chemistry and psychology of our amazing brains we’ll examine how our senses help us understand the world. For more detail and to book your place visit

Exciting New Events
Places are now booking for three exciting new national U3A events in October taking place around the country. At the Whitworth Gallery, Manchester members will get an in depth look at one of the largest global collections of textiles and wallpapers dating from the 1st century AD to the present day.
Unravelling the Whitworth’s Collections The National Museum Cardiff with a Performance from the Welsh National Opera  Exploring the Solar System at the Royal Institution.

During August and September the Gladstone Pottery Museum will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the last bottle oven firing. Today only 29 biscuit and glost bottle ovens remain out of over 2,000 in the City. Two-thirds of the remaining ovens are within a five minute walk of the Gladstone.

The next Badminton Group Meetings will be from 2pm to 3pm on Tuesdays 18th and 25th September at Fenton Manor Leisure Centre.

Evening and Weekend Meals

The next evening meal will be a Curry Night at The Tollgate, Blurton on Friday, 28th September, when we will meet at 7pm for 7.30pm. £5 per person deposit will be required. The price is £11.95 for two courses or £13.95 for three. A drink is included in the price.

Flower Arranging

The group meets on Monday afternoons at St. Paul’s Church, Longton Hall Road, Blurton. After the Summer break, the planned meeting for September 24th will not now take place. Meetings will recommence on Monday 1st October at 2pm. Thereafter the group will meet on alternate Monday afternoons.
Tenpin Bowling
Thu Sep 27th The Tenpin Bowling Group will be taking a short break during August but will resume on Thursday 27th September at the Hanley Cinebowl on Festival Park and you will need to book and pay in advance.
