Monthly general meetings are held at Methodist Central Hall in the Strand, Longton, ST3 2JH, on the last Thursday of each month. Doors open at 1.30pm for a 2pm start.
A range of activities are organised, including guest speakers, music, Jacobs Table, quiz, etc. Free parking is available on the Tesco Car Park which is only a short walk away.

|Thu Nov 29th||MONTHLY MEETING 29th NOVEMBER|
This Monthly Meeting will be the last one during 2018, and we will provide a buffet lunch. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Mel Baines Trio, which includes the two Johns who have proved very popular on previous occasions.
As this will be our “Christmas Buffet”, it would be great to see some members in seasonal attire but this is by no means compulsory. Santas, Rudolphs, Robins, etc., will be welcome!
Early notification that at our Monthly Meeting to be held on 31st January 2019, Kath Reynolds will deliver her talk titled "Goose Grease and Brown Paper."

|Fri Nov 30th||LONGTON COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP CHRISTMAS EVENT|
Longton Community Partnership have organised a free Christmas event that will be held from 4pm to 7pm at Methodist Central Hall on Friday 30th November.
There will be: Singing with school choirs, and free activities for children;
Santa will tour the town on the land-train (children with parents can climb aboard for a free ride).
The winners of the Partnership’s school design competition will help Stoke City's Pottermus turn on the Christmas tree lights.
|Sat Dec 1st||FUNDRAISING FASHION SHOW|
A fundraising fashion show and shopping event is being held at Great Bridgford Village Hall, ST18 9PR at 2pm on Saturday, 1st December. All proceeds are in aid of the Chernobyl Childrens’ Project.

|Wed Dec 5th||NEXT “ERIC” SHOW AT THE NEW VIC|
Lynne has provisionally booked tickets for “I’m Eric Get Me Out of Here” on Wednesday, 5th December at the New Vic. The show starts at 7.30pm and is billed as “The 60s Party in the Jungle” with plenty of 60s music and loads of comedy to make a festive night out. |Sat Dec 8th||BARLASTON PROSCENIUM PLAYERS – NEXT COMEDY |
The next production at Barlaston Village Hall will be “Agatha Crusty and the Village Hall Murders” by Derek Webb, which will be performed from 5th to 8th December. Tickets cost £7 and are available by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by phoning Carol on 01785 243024. The play is said to be witty with a plot to tax the audience’s little grey cells!

|Fri Dec 14th||A Christmas Meal at The Tollgate has been booked for Friday, 14th December, at 7pm for 7.30pm and there are 30 places initially. Food will need to be pre-ordered and £5 deposit is required by 29th November. Menus are available from Fay. The normal price is £18.95 but there will be a lower price for our group and this will be negotiated shortly. |

|The Garden and Nature Lovers’ group will meet at 10.00am on Friday, 9th November at Northwood Nurseries, Clayton. We’ll also meet there at the same time on Friday, 14th December. |
We can use the November meeting to discuss spring and summer flowering bulbs or indoor plants. The nurseries will probably be selling large, economically priced packs of bulbs, which some members may wish to share. We will decide on topics for the December meeting, which may include garden or nature related visits for next year.
Northwood Nurseries normally have a lovely display of Christmas items at this time of year, plus gifts and cards. There is also likely to be a selection of goodies for our feathered, furry or spiky friends for those of us who are interested in promoting wildlife in our gardens.
