Monthly general meetings are held at Methodist Central Hall in the Strand, Longton, ST3 2JH, on the last Thursday of each month. Doors open at 1.30pm for a 2pm start.

A range of activities are organised, including guest speakers, music, Jacobs Table, quiz, etc. Free parking is available on the Tesco Car Park which is only a short walk away.

Thu Feb 28th MONTHLY MEETING 28th FEBRUARY 2019

At our Monthly Meeting on 28/02/19, we will welcome John Titford who will deliver his talk titled "Ey Up Mi Duck."

Early notification that at our Monthly Meeting to be held on 28th March 2019, we are hoping to receive a brief talk from Helen Taylor & Claire Roberts who will tell us about ‘Shared Housing’(relating to the Age Friendly City Scheme).
Also Possibly hot food – to be confirmed.

Please note that Monthly Meetings commence at 2pm, with doors open around 1.30pm
Outings
Thu Mar 21st Lynne has chosen Liverpool for our next coach trip on Thursday, 21st March. Whatever the weather, there’s plenty to see and do in Liverpool with the Albert Docks, The Beatle Story, museums, parks, coffee bars, shopping centre and of course the Mersey ferry.

Pick-ups will be from the usual places (Whittle Road, Meir Park at 9.20am, then The Strand, Longton – outside the old Lidl at 9.30am). The price is £14.50.

Sun Mar 17th CHARITY CURRY NIGHT WITH MUSIC

Mary and Mike Cresswell have organised another Musical Curry Night at Sangam 2, Glebe Street, Stoke for 6pm on Sunday, 17th March. The proceeds will be for the Chernobyl Children’s Project (UK), which is a very worthy cause. This is a ticket event, and includes food and music by the Cheadle U3A Ukulele Band.

Discussion
Mon Mar 11th The next meeting of the Discussion Group will take place at Hanley Library between 12.30 pm and 1.30 pm on Monday 11th March 2019.

The Topic will be "Use and abuse of Technology in Schools."

Evening and Weekend Meals
Sat Feb 23rd A table has been booked at the Saracen’s Head, Meir for 7pm on Saturday, 23rd February. A deposit of £5 per person will be required as soon as possible. Menus will be available soon as food will need to be pre-ordered, but they are already available on the website at https://www.saracensheadsteakhouse.co.uk. The Saracen’s has been renovated and is now a steak house with an excellent reputation. They also do quite a good selection of alternative dishes besides their selection of steaks.

IT Group
Thu Feb 28th If you need to learn about technology or brush up on existing skills, our IT Group can probably help you. The group is led by Joe Neilson and meets fortnightly on Monday mornings at Adderley Green Care Centre.

Whether you have a laptop, tablet or smart phone, it’s worth giving the group a try if you need any help. Whatever the problem, e.g. Windows, coping with technology to get the best out of your holiday photos, or perhaps even lack of confidence with Facebook, give Joe a call on 01782 852042.
Tenpin Bowling
Tue Mar 19th The Tenpin Bowling evening booked for Thursday 31st January 2019 was cancelled due to warnings of inclement weather. Michelle was hoping to change the date to an evening during February, however, Hanley Cinebowl have changed their special offers and the best deal now is on Tuesday evenings and consists of two games for £7.50 (no food or drink included) with selected drinks at half price.

Two evening events are proposed for 19th February, and 19th March.
Walking
Mon Feb 18th Walks are normally held on the first and third Monday of each month and are usually up to 5 miles unless stated. New members are always welcome.

February walks are as follows:
Mon, 4th Feb Trentham Gardens and Monument Wood, option of returning through Gardens or carrying on through Kings Wood. Trentham Card needed or 20% off entrance price with a members ticket. Meet outside entrance opposite Cadwalladers at 10.30am.

Mon, 18th Feb HemHeath/Newstead Woods. Meet Hem heath Woods Car Park at 10.30am. Canal, Pools and Woods with coffee at Wedgwoods before returning through Woods (optional) or drive back to Trentham.
