Meets at: Newtown Community Centre
Weeks 2 and 4, Thursdays, 10.00 - 12.00 noon
Welcome, if you can answer yes to either (A) or (B)
(A) Beginners group: I would like to learn to sew with a sewing machine. Learn at your own pace in a relaxed atmosphere.
(B) I am able to use a sewing machine but would like to spend time with like-minded people who enjoy sewing.
It is not necessary to own a machine as sewing machines are available at the class.
Examples of support available for group A
|1.||Learn how to thread the machine|
|2.||Make a small bag which can be used as a make-up bag or a bag to keep sewing notions. You will learn how to follow a simple pattern and insert a zip, whilst developing transferable skills for larger projects such as a skirt or dress|
|3.||Make a bag for life - learn how to do a french seam, again developing transferable skills required in making underwear or pyjamas|
|4.||Learn how to use a pattern and adjust if necessary, to fit your personal measurements|
|5.||Make a pair of pyjama trousers using french seams (developing the skills to make a pair of trousers)|
|6.||Make a pyjama jacket using french seams, setting in a sleeve, attaching a facing and a collar, and making buttonholes (build up your skills to make a blouse or shirt)|
B People who are able to sew
Exchange ideas and knowledge with others in the group and continue with your personal projects.
Above all, enjoy sewing in a relaxed atmosphere with like-minded people.
