Walks - Short

Three to four mile walks every Wednesday at 10-30am except the 1st Wednesday of the month.

The walks cover a wide variety of countryside in Derbyshire, Cheshire, and Greater Manchester.
For distant walks, sharing cars is an option.

Different people volunteer to lead the walks.
The Group Leaders welcome people for this task.

All walks start at 10.30 am prompt, Please wear good walking boots or shoes.

The annual lunch for the Short walks group will be held again at The Alma Lodge Hotel, 149 Buxton Road, Stockport, SK2 6EL. on Wednesday 20th November at 12 noon for 12.30.

All present and past member of this group are welcome. The cost will be £22 per head inclusive of service charge, this is for 3 courses plus tea and coffee.

Menu choices will follow as soon as these have been finalised. We will be taking bookings at the October and November monthly meetings, and hope to see you all at the Alma Lodge.

Wed Jan 29th Easy Walk 3.7 miles, mostly on good firm paths-canal, golf course and Middlewood way. Leaders Hilary & Ray Park at High Lane Village Hall, Windlehurst Rd, (SK6 8AB).

Wed Feb 12th From Brabyns Park and a full round of Etherow, No stiles, normally reasonable ground conditions Judith Curry. Meet in Brabyns Park, Brabyns Brow, Marple, .(SK6 5DT).
Wed Feb 19th 2 hr walk via Middlewood Way, Fields of Lyme, ladder stile, two traditional stiles and kisssing gates. Uphill section and potenially muddy. Leader Sara Stabb Meet at Jacksons Brick Works car park, Higher Poynton (SK12 1TY).
Wed Feb 26th 3.7 miles Macc Forest Area ciruclar (some stiles and steps along the route). Leader Jim Hollingsworth Visitor Centre Macc forest (parking fee) (SK11 0NS).

Wed Mar 11th 4 mile walk around Bollington, good paths on stiles anticipated. Ray & Shelagh Berry.
Meet at Public Car Park Bollington, Adlington Rd,Opposite the cricket ground.(SK10 5JT).
Wed Mar 18th Canal walk via Roman Lakes. No stiles. Leader Eileen Stoney Meet in Brabyns Park, Brabyns Brow, Marple, .(SK6 5DT).
Wed Mar 25th Short canal walk ,then Green Park Farm into Lyme Park. Could be a little muddy. Gill Cameron & Judith Curry
Meet at Nelsons Pit car park. (SK12 1TH). (A small charge for parking).
