The Steyning & District U3A
Live, Learn, Laugh
The U3A is a national organisation bringing educational and social opportunities to people no longer in full-time work. It creates an environment where we can all benefit by sharing the knowledge that we have acquired during our lives or by getting together to try something completely new. If you like to learn more about the U3A movement and the Third Age Trust that stands behind it, please follow this link: Third Age Trust.

Steyning & District U3A
Our U3A covers an area of West Sussex close to the new South Downs National Park. Our members come not only from Steyning and Henfield, two of the larger towns in our catchment area, but also from surrounding towns and villages as far apart as Poynings, West Chiltington, Warninglid and Shoreham-by-Sea. If you'd like to see a map showing where our members are, click this link : members' locations.
It is one of 900 or so locally run U3A groups which operate as charitable associations and are all affiliated to the Third Age Trust at Bromley in Kent. You can find out more about the U3A and what it has to offer by clicking on the link in the first paragraph at the top of this page). If you're looking for material to help publicise our U3A, please click on this link: publicity. For more information about how we are organised, and for contact details and a list of our committee members, please go to our About Us page.
The benefits of joining us
At present we have more than 500 members and over 50 interest groups. In addition to the more specialised activities of our groups (have a look at them by visiting the Groups pages), we organise meetings and events for the whole membership. These range from our New Year’s Lunch to the summer tea afternoon, with coffee mornings in between. From time to time we also invite speakers to address our members, and - when there is sufficient demand - arrange outings to places of interest.
If you would like to join us, please follow the link at the right to our Membership page, and then follow our guidance. You can apply online or by downloading and printing an application form. If you would like to contact us, you will find an email form on the About Us page.
Renewing your membership
Our subscription year runs from 1st April to end of March (although for anyone joining from 1 January in a given year his or her membership year runs until March of the following year).
If you wish to remain a member (which we very much hope you do), please complete a renewal form. You can find the online form by following this link: online renewal form.
