Canasta

A card game devised in 1939 in Uruguay for 4 people, Canasta has developed many variations over the years. It is now played with 2,3 or 4 people.

This U3A Canasta group started in October 2009 with just 5 players, but has now grown to consist of 18 members. We meet on the third Monday of the month at 2pm. in the members homes, with a donation of 50p to cover the cost of Tea/coffee and biscuits.
Luckily we don't all tend to play each month, as space and tables are a big issue at many members homes.

We are a noisy, friendly group who enjoy the competitive challenge, banter and luck of the game. Some are beginners, while others are old hands - all are made very welcome.
Fortunately we are evenly split across the area, thus transport is not a problem, just our navigation!

If you wish to start or re-start to play Canasta please don't hesitate to contact Joan Jenkins (present leader) on 01273 493903.
The sooner you do the sooner you can be enjoying a friendly game of Canasta.
