Wine & Beer Appreciation 4

I joined a wine appreciation evening class about 40 years ago and I can still recall those wines. I have been looking ever since to join a local group and we have now had 5 meetings.
We have the odd space left for additional members so we need to start a list for a fifth group ! I am aiming to post here a report of our findings every month and I hope the other 3 groups will do the same. This is NOT a marketing tool, simply a pooling of our views given in good faith to assist those seeking to buy wines.
On 1st July 2014 Gavin was our host and presented South African wines purchased on line from Naked Wines. They were all very different :
Arabella Sauvignon Blanc 2013 Very assertive, really too big to taste without seafood and was not generally appreciated.
Hilton Chenin Blanc-Viognier Chardonnay 2013 A bit disappointing.
Richard's Rose 2013 The most popular wine of the night. Geoff memorably remarked it had a touch of cats pee......
Carmen Stevens Angels Reserve Shiraz 2012 This needs red meat or strong cheese and was not appreciated on the night.
Arabella Pinotage 2013 Delicious.
Moerbei Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz 2013 Some of us liked this one.
The average price was £ 8 per bottle.
