Sports - Walking Cricket
Walking Cricket – Is up & running again. Following the return to play guidelines of ECB and working with Eight Ash Green Cricket Club on their Covid-19 risk assessment, Stanway U3A cricketers held their first post lockdown session on the Heath cricket field on 17th August. A good time was had by all.
Our first meeting of this Group took place 13 May 2019, at 10am. We intend to play as follows on 2nd and 4th Mondays excluding Bank Holidays, in the open on Fordham Heath. Walking Cricket is a great way to keep active, meet new friends and enjoy the great game of cricket all in a friendly sociable environment with your peers.
Walking Cricket is the same as the standard version of the game, but played with a softer ball. No running is allowed, so players must walk between the wickets, as well as while fielding and bowling. Less physically demanding than traditional cricket it won't matter whether you've played in the past or are new to the game, all genders and abilities will be welcome.
We welcome new members to this healthy outdoor activity which will be followed by a convivial coffee and chat in The Cricketers.
