There is good evidence with studies reporting that meditation helps relieve our subjective levels of anxiety and depression, and improves attention, concentration, and overall psychological well-being. A side benefit has been found that for people of our age it has a profound effect on the ageing process of the brain.
The groups are on a drop-in basis for the regular meetings, and occasionally there will be a five week course.
A Group meets at William Loveless Hall, Wivenhoe, weekly on Tuesdays from 11am finishing at 1 pm, and the Group at Copford meets on Thursdays from 2pm to 4pm. Both groups can take 15-20 people. There will be a charge of £10 which is likely to cover the cost of the hall and refreshments for some weeks. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available at each meeting.
New members are always welcome and you can try a session to see if it is for you; you do not have to commit to the Group by paying the fee until the next collection. The Groups are very sociable and interaction within the group is an important part of the meetings.
