Sports - Squash 57
Group Leader David Mills worked on the resumption of play protocols of the English Squash & Racket Assoc., and with Lexden Squash & Racket Club risk assessment to restart Stanway U3A sessions at Holmwood House on 18th August.
Squash 57 (formerly Racketball) continues to be part of Stanway's sports groups repertoire and offers the ultimate way to maintain fitness at an excellent sports complex. Squash 57 is played on a squash court and is similar to squash but slower and played with shorter handled, bigger rackets and larger, softer, bigger rubber balls. It is an excellent sport which is fun to play in a friendly social environment.
There are three courts available and rackets and balls are provided; we also have the use of shower facilities.
We play every Tuesday morning at an excellent sports complex in Lexden and now have room for 1 or 2 additional players. We start play at 9.30am which is an excellent time for our members because we are booked for only one hour for each session and this enables us to continue with other activities during the day.
For the sum of £3 we guarantee everyone a minimum of three games during the hour; sessions are limited to 12 players on a strictly first come first served basis booked in advance. There is a reduced rate for four advanced bookings at £10.
There is a range of expertise but everyone is welcome to learn and play. Occasional coaching will be offered.
There is a bar serving refreshments and water throughout the sessions.
