For our November trip, we visited Blue House Farm, an Essex Wildlife Trust reserve on the banks of the River Crouch. There are three hides, and we had wonderful views of a Buzzard and a Marsh Harrier which put up hundreds of Teal. The weather was dry and clear and we took advantage of the seawalls where there were considerable numbers of Golden Plover and Dunlin with a couple of Grey Plover.
Other birds seen: little egret, mute swan, greylag geese, canada geese, brent geese, shelduck, mallard, shoveler, wigeon, teal, buzzard, moorhen, oystercatcher, lapwing, dunlin, black-tailed godwit, curlew, snipe, black-headed gull, woodpigeon, wren, robin, redwing, blackbird, blue tit, rook, carrion crow, starling, house sparrow, goldfinch, greenfinch
