Talks & Tours
Lecture Meetings All members of the U3A are welcome to attend our Lecture Meetings, which feature a variety of speakers. Meetings are held on the second Friday of each month (no meeting in August) in Stanway Village Hall, Villa Road, Stanway starting at 2.15pm. Entrance and refreshments are free. The programme of speakers is advertised in the current Brochure, the February newsletter and in Dates for your Diary below. Alternative parking: The Evangelical Church on Chapel Road has kindly allowed us to park in their car park on Lecture days. Stanway U3A members also have access to Colchester U3A monthly talks, but do take your membership card with you. Use the link to Colchester U3A talks in the side panel.
Mini-Lecture Meetings Occasional meetings are held in much smaller local venues and are advertised at the monthly Lecture Meetings, in Newsletters and in Dates for your Diary below. Entrance is free, refreshments are not provided.
All Around the Town These events go to local places of interest, usually with a guide and privileged access. These trips are advertised at the monthly Lecture Meetings, in the Newsletters and in Dates for your Diary below.
Trips and Tours These trips go further afield and can be just for the day, or sometimes a three or four day mini-break. They are advertised at the monthly Lecture Meetings, in the Newsletters and in Dates for your Diary below.

New Members and Coffee Socials These social occasions are arranged in October, February, April and June to provide an opportunity for all Stanway U3A members to meet informally. They are advertised at the monthly Lecture Meetings, in the Newsletter and on the Noticeboard of the Welcome page on the website. All members are very welcome to attend. Please check Newsletter for exact dates, times and venues.
Group Leaders Business Buffet Once a year in August there is a ‘Thank You’ event for all Stanway U3A Group Leaders.

|Sat Jun 23rd||Outing||All Around the Town: Local visit to King Seeds (E.W.King and Co Ltd) Monks Farm, Coggeshall Road, Kelvedon, CO5 9PG. 11am on Saturday, 23 June 2018, £2 on the day.|
The tour takes 2 hours - not a lot of walking but we will be on our feet for the tour. Our guide will show us their wonderful sweet pea fields. He will give us some history behind Kings and a tour around the site to show how the seeds are packed. Discounted seed packets will be available for purchase.
|Wed Jun 27th||Outing||This trip is now full; there is a standby list so if anyone is interested they should let the Trips Organiser. As it has booked up so quickly, if there are sufficient members the Trips Organiser may be able to arrange a second coach.|
Our summer outing is to the Royal Botantic Gardens, Kew including a 60 minute guided walking tour. It should be interesting as the Temperate House re-opens in May after being closed to the public for a 5-year restoration project; the Pagoda has also been refurbished.
Coach leaves at 8am from Marks Tey Hotel, parking available at the hotel £1. Cost: £35 including coach, admission, guided tour and driver tip. The booking form is at the side of the page; members will need to use your User Name and 2017-2018 Password which are on the back of your membership card.
|Fri Jul 6th||Meeting||Group Leaders 'Thank you' Buffet - in appreciation of all the hard work that these members have undertaken during the past year, we are holding a 'Thank You Buffet Get Together' on 6 July at Tollgate Village Hall from 2pm to 4pm. We hope that Stanway U3A Group Leaders will enjoy the fantastic buffet that we propose to provide, together with cold and hot drinks being available. There will not only be the opportunity for Group Leaders to meet fellow Leaders in a social atmosphere, but the chance to exchange views and ideas.|

|Wed Sep 12th||Outing||Hampton Court Palace - A trip to the magnificent Hampton Court Palace for our late summer day trip. The Palace was built in the 16th century by Cardinal Wolsey and 'gifted' to Henry VIII, as an awe-inspiring and flamboyant showcase for kingship. There are vast and never ending vistas, courtyards, gardens and parkland, along with its magnificent state apartments, rivalling the great palaces of Europe.
