In its simplest form, participants spend time colouring in outline pictures for pleasure. It is sometimes called 'Mindfulness' or ‘Art Therapy’.
Participants bring in their own colouring books and colouring pencils/pens. The time is spent filling in the designs as we rediscover the childhood joys of ‘colouring-in’.
There are many adult colouring books on the market today and they feature many different images including intricate pictures of medieval art, psychedelic patterns and extraordinary gardens. Some are top sellers on ‘Amazon’ and designers such as Johanna Basford are becoming household names.
Colouring books can be found in most bookshops and on the internet. WH Smith in St Ives has a wide range of books.
Meetings are on the second and fourth Friday of each month. We meet between 10.00 am and midday in The Tony Burgess Room, St Ives Corn Exchange, St Ives. Payment for room hire, is once a term and is equivalent to approximately £3 per session. This varies according to group numbers.
