Sketchbook Art is an art for all interest group. We focus on the sketchbook as a means of developing ideas, experimenting with media and jotting down visual references. We do not intend to produce ‘finished’ pieces of work. We aim to enjoy the creative process, share ideas and have some fun!

This is a teacher led group. Tasks are set and completed during our meetings. Members contribute to the cost of room hire and a small additional contribution covers printing and the cost of some materials.

We meet in The Corn Exchange on the first and third Wednesday of the month (10.00am – 12.00).

The group first met in February 2012 and has continued to meet twice a month since that day. In that time we have studied a wide range of themes (line, form, colour), artists (Picasso, Lowry, Riley) and techniques (inks, watercolour, collage).

'Sketchbookers' are challenged to try new ideas and new ways of working. Results have been excellent and even the most reluctant Artists have gained confidence in their own abilities.

The group enjoy Show & Tell. Individual members volunteer to speak for five minutes to the rest of the group about a subject which is of interest to themselves. This provides interesting and enthusiastic short talks on Art related subjects.
