Classic Novel

Group Leader:Sylvia Heaton
Venue:Friends' Meeting House
Day and Time:Alternate Mondays, 10.30 till 12.30

The Classic Novel will resume on Monday 25th September.

We meet on alternate Mondays from 10.30.-12.30. at the Meeting House.

In the years the group has been running we have read, discussed, criticised, and applauded a range of novels(typically three per year)and at times battled our way through the miseries of 19th century life whilst gaining a deeper understanding of the social history of the day. However, our meetings are lively with a range of views being expressed. Most importantly there is lots of laughter too!

Our first text on our return is New Grub Street by George Gissing followed by Ruth by Elizabeth Gaskell which we'll begin after the Christmas break. Our final novel for the year will be The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald.

As we do have space to accommodate a few more should you be interested in joining us please contact me via the website.
