Venue United Reformed Church
Day and time1st, 3rd and 5th Thursdays, from 10.30 to 12.30.

The Scrabble Group meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month.

We have 5 boards, so in theory could accommodate (squashily!) 20 players; more usually, we have 9 to 12 attending. This is a great game as you gradually learn to improve strategies and juggle potential words from your 7 letters to get the highest-scoring squares. There is frustration too, as when you have a 7-letter word (potentially with a bonus of 50) but realize there’s nowhere on the board you can attach it to the existing grid – infuriating! But sometimes it can be triumphantly played, and that’s very satisfying.

Don’t be put off if you haven’t played for years, or at all; come and join us, and everyone will help you!
