St Helens

My Ballet and Teaching Experience

Experience:
I have been dancing since the age of 6. I started in Reading in a once-a-week Ballet class. Then I was sent away to The Legat Ballet School of Russian Ballet in Tunbridge Wells, where I learned to dance. I did Yoga, Tap, character dancing, and double work (dancing with a partner). I travelled to Ireland in a small company from the school, doing several of the big ballets, such as Swan lake and Giselle and many others, also many dances till I was 16. I was in several pantomimes and summer shows. I was also on Children's Caravan television.

I started teaching in Canada in 1964. Then in 1972 I joined the Royal Academy of Dance in Canada. I took my teacher's examination in 1984 and went on to put many boys and girls of all shapes and sizes through Ballet examinations from Dance Readiness through to Intermediate. I also taught advanced students in Summer School. I have also taught many Adults from the beginning at the London Academy of Dance in London Ontario, Canada, and now I teach the St Helens Silver Swans for the Royal Academy of Dance as a Licensed teacher. The Royal Academy is a dance association who helps Dance teachers in 89 Countries of the world.
