St Austell

Environmental Group

GROUP CONVENOR - Jill Trewhella

This group’s ethos is to recycle/reuse/refill/re-educate and replace, single use plastic where possible; to avoid wrapping and packaging and to protect and enhance the local environment with litter picks and bee friendly planting.

The group currently recycle clean pet food pouches, crisp packets, bras, lidded glass jars, mascara wands, used postage stamps, ink cartridges, plastic bottle lids, toothbrushes, toothpaste packets, empty paste containers, electric toothbrush heads, jewellery and watches (can be broken), wool, material and old manual garden tools.

The group run a swap/sell shop table at each monthly meeting and coffee morning. The table has everything from plants, jigsaws, clothing, handmade cards, shopping & gift bags, preserves, jams, chutneys, honey, knitwear, knitted toys, quilts to re-usable non plastic coffee cups all looking for new homes.

The group has also arranged for the Incredible Bulk Refill Van to visit the St Austell Arts Centre on Coffee Mornings.

For more information speak to Jill at the monthly meetings or coffee mornings or email her at jilltrewhella1000@gmail.com to be added to the group’s email list so that you can keep up-to-date with the latest initiatives.

We are happy for you to come to a Coffee Morning or one main Monthly meeting and to attend one individual group event before deciding whether to join St Austell U3A.
