GROUP CONVENOR - Pippa Boardman
Pétanque is essentially a form of Boule, played by the French and Spanish in their town squares.
Teams of 2/3 or 4 players. Each match lasts about 35 minutes. It is very social and has a competitive element. You don't need to be fit, there is a bit of bending to pick up the Boules, but that is all.
You need to join the Tregony Club, (£10 for regular members and £5 for Seniors per year).
There is a bar and we have sandwiches or hot food at each meeting.
Directions from St Austell - on B3287 enter Tregony. R turn to St Cuby's Church, signed "Playing Fields" L into Back Lane and the Club is on the R about 100 yards on.
This is an outdoor Interest Group and now, by popular request, is an all year round group, playing on Saturdays at either 11.00am or 1.30pm with lunch for everyone at 1.00pm.
We are happy for you to come to a Coffee Morning or one main Monthly meeting and to attend one individual group event before deciding whether to join St Austell U3A.
