French Conversation (3)
This is a French conversation group, started up when there was little likelihood of joining one or other of the existing groups, which were full.
Meetings take place on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month, and are held at the home of one of the members, (a large table being necessary to accommodate our group of 10.)
The format is flexible, we always have a subject for discussion to start, and then may listen to a news item in French, or read an article from a magazine. At present we are reading a French novel, one chapter per session, which we discuss in detail to aid comprehension. A good French/English dictionary is a useful tool at all meetings. We might do a crossword puzzle, and we invariably end with a game designed to extend our vocabulary
We have held a “French evening” in company with the other French groups in K2, and intend to continue to host similar events annually.
The aim of the group is to encourage everyone to improve and use their skills to speak French so as to make themselves understood in that language. We may not always be 100% correct in our grammar, but we have the confidence to speak up and the willingness to listen when we are corrected. And we really have fun learning!
Currently the group is full but has a waiting list.
