Food and Travel Book Club
A book club that takes an innovative approach to our passion for books, travel and food across the world. We explore the history, geography, food and culture of countries that we would like to visit. We choose a country, find all the books available (in the process, support book issues of libraries and sales in charity shops), meet, divide up the topics and in groups of two or three, do some reading and research and when we meet, deliver our findings in an informal way. We look at travel guides for the history, geography and culture, cookery books that explains cultural and ethnic influences in the food, fiction and non fiction books - any books that gives a flavour of the country. The food team have the opportunity to experiment and share typical food from the region. Members with first-hand experience of the country are also invited to share their experiences.
The group meets on the fourth Monday in the month between 2-4pm in Ashford.
Currently the group is full.
