Wildlife and Conservation
Wildlife and Conservation was formed in January 2020. Unfortunately, after the March 2020 meeting all activities were suspended owing to coronavirus. We are tentatively restarting activities.
We meet on the first Monday of the month. Indoors at 1.30pm, or for field meetings at various times. Our indoor meetings, so far, have been at Notcutts Garden Centre between Laleham and Staines.
Our March 2020 meeting was at Bedfont Lakes Country Park when we had a very enjoyable afternoon being shown round the park and private nature reserve.
In August 2022 there was a wildlife walk on Staines Moor.
We are still planning our activities but expect to do a mixture of wildlife walks and helping out with conservation projects.
You do not have to be an expert, just have an interest in some aspect of wildlife or conservation and the desire to get involved in studying or helping out, or simply enjoying a wildlife walk in the countryside.
We may also arrange occasional indoor meetings with a speaker on a relevant topic.
In the winter months we will predominantly meet indoors and in the better weather predominantly outdoors.
We are currently charging £1 per member per meeting attended plus a yearly £5 subscription for those who intend to come on a regular basis. This is to build up a fund from which we can pay for speakers at indoor meetings.
We have vacancies and would welcome anyone with a relevant interest.
