The handbell group was one of the very first SU3A groups to be established.
We rehearse on about thirty Friday afternoons in the year for a couple of hours, including a tea break, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Ashford home of Maurice and Sheila Davies, our leaders. You do not need to be a ‘musician’ in the usual sense of the word but the ability to count up to four (and occasionally six) is a distinct advantage, as is the ability to be able to tell the difference between blue coloured dots and orange ones on our marked up staff music! We play a varied range of music, most of which will be familiar to you, and we have a lot of fun in the process.
Why not give us a try! We are a fairly friendly lot and we perform at a few venues during the year, entertaining mostly audiences of a similar age to ourselves. About once a year, we join up with other groups of ringers for some ‘massed ringing’ and to be able to hear what other groups achieve.
