Writing Group
This group is currently encouraging new members and you will be made very welcome.
We are of necessity a small group, full of enthusiasm for our subject and get on very well together. We have covered many and varied aspects of writing, having written essays to illustrate the finer points of writing. We do not restrict ourselves to essays and also enjoy writing poetry.
We meet once a month on the first Tuesday at 2pm and take it in turns to host each meeting. Of course the meeting always finishes with a cup of tea and biscuits and a general discussion and a session of "putting the world to rights!"
Release your inner creative imagination by becoming part of the writing group. Our monthly meetings are both lively and thought provoking. We choose a title for each months work and use this as a base for creating a story - either fact or fiction - which we read out to our fellow budding authors. We are not in the game of critiquing each other’s works. We are there to listen to and enjoy each other’s interpretation of the subject. It is surprising how many different angles we come up from one simple title. This then leads to a lively discussion over tea and cake about topics that have arisen from our writings. For example, a recent title - “Pet Hates” - gave us the opportunity to put the world to rights as we see it. Remarkably, or perhaps not as we are all of a certain age, we all seemed to be in agreement with what we dislike about today’s world.
