Membership Renewal Online

Renewal of your membership of Southport U3A becomes due on 1st September. You will receive a renewal notice by email or by post during early August.

You can renew by post, using the instructions on the renewal notice, or by attending the September or October monthly meeting exactly as in previous years.

However, you can also renew your membership online using the Beacon Management System and PayPal. Using this method brings several advantages:

  • safe and secure payment system
  • reduction in administrative effort
  • saving of postage (two stamps for postal renewals)
  • reduced overcrowding at renewal meetings

ONLINE RENEWALS
Payments for membership renewals are made via the PayPal website using your debit card, credit card OR, if you have one, a PayPal account.

Note that neither Southport U3A nor Beacon have any access to debit or credit card details. PayPal is one of the largest online payment agencies in the world and is very secure. It is not necessary to open a PayPal account in order to make a payment using a credit or debit card and there is no extra cost to you.

If you have any concerns about this, click the link to an Online renewal presentation we have prepared, with sample screens so that you can follow the whole process and know in advance what to expect.

Alternatively, if you are comfortable with online processes, click the link to go directly to the Beacon Members Portal and enter your details before proceeding to the online renewal pages.

If you are having difficulty getting your details to come up when you complete the Members Portal please have a look at the instructions available to you by clicking the link to the Beacon Management System, where you will be taken through the format you need to use for completion.

If, having followed this advice, you still cannot enter the Members Portal please send an email by clicking the link to the Membership Secretary who will look at your record.

We do hope that you will renew online as it will greatly reduce our administrative effort and the number of trips to the bank with cash at a busy time of the year for us.

JOINT MEMBERS

If you are a couple residing at the same address you have been categorised as Joint Members. This saves on duplication of communications and has a great benefit in our collecting Gift Aid.

If you are renewing as a couple and only one is registered for Gift Aid then please use the details of that member to gain access to the system. We will then be able to claim Gift Aid on the full fee for both of you.

Another feature of this link is that you can update your personal details, including emergency contact, email address etc.

MEMBERSHIP CARDS
On completion of the renewal process you will receive an acknowledgement message from Beacon with an electronic copy of your membership card(s) attached.

You may print the card(s) or they can be stored on a phone or tablet as proof of membership. If you feel that the card is too flimsy you can collect a plastic sleeve to house them: these sleeves will be available at the monthly meeting.

If you do not have printing facilities then come to the Membership Desk to receive your card.
