The choir leader is Lynne Rogers MA BA Hons CTABRSM. A little more information about Lynne:
Lynne Rogers is a soprano who originally studied Theology at Manchester University before travelling to Italy to study singing under Maestro Arrigo Pola. Lynne then went to Birmingham Conservatoire where she gained a Masters in Performance Studies. Currently Lynne has a busy portfolio career as a singing teacher, choral director and freelance soprano. She is a gifted concert and oratorio performer and is a regular member of the BBC Daily Service Singers which broadcasts on Radio 4. In addition to conducting a number of choirs, Lynne currently teaches singing at Liverpool Hope University.
There is a small charge and choir members are expected to pay in advance each month.
New choir members are needed and would be made very welcome, so please come along if you love to sing!. To enthuse and encourage you here is a contribution from a choir member:
Having given up my work and with spare time in the day
I wondered how I'd pass the time so I joined the U3A.
So many things there are to do and really so much choice
But I decided to join the choir - I'd a bit of a singing voice.
I didn't know what to expect but I went along to see
And everyone was really nice and considerate to me.
There’s lots of laughter in the choir and banter flowing free
But if the basses upset the altos, they have to make the tea!
Our leader with the flowing locks is talented singer Lynne:
She can make sweet music from the choir instead of a tuneless din.
So I hope this gives you some idea and hope these words inspire
To come along one Wednesday morn and join our lovely choir.
