The Dancercise group meets once a month, on the first Friday of the month, at St Nicholas’ church hall.
This group is very much about doing your own thing: we do not learn dance steps or set routines and we don’t dance in groups. This is most definitely not line dancing!
Essentially this group involves listening to rock and pop music from the 1960s, 70s and 80s - the Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, Abba, Status Quo etc. - and dancing along to it.
The majority of the songs will be very familiar to most U3A members and we often find ourselves singing as well as dancing!
As well as being a fun way of getting extra physical exercise, many people who have joined the group say that this activity raises their mood and makes them feel cheerful and happy.
So, if you want to pretend you’re still 23 and down at the disco, come along to Dancercise. Wallow in nostalgia whilst getting fit in mind and body!
