Walks
4th Mondays, 10.30
This is for those who prefer something a little more challenging than the shorter walks. 2.5 hour/5 mile walks of standard Chilterns terrain walking with a pub lunch at the end if you wish. Intellectual discussion of any points of interest may be provided by all present!
Please note that members join the walks at their own risk. Boots and sticks are recommended. You will be advised of the area and terrain prior to the walk. A suitable level of fitness and mobility is expected - let the leader/convenor know if you have any specific ailments or concerns before starting the walk. You are advised to provide your own first aid kit.
Keith is temporarily acting as convenor as well as proposing and leading walks. PLEASE lighten my u3a load and volunteer to assist! Organising a walk entails picking a (currently) 2.5 hour 5 mile ‘Chilterns’ route, reconnoitring it for stiles, mud and other hazards, and warning the pub of impending lunch custom. The convenor emails details to the group in advance.
We walk at the pace of the slowest. I would love to improve our range of walks (together with the Shorter Walks group) to help suit everyone’s varying abilities regarding distance, gradients, speed and frequency in order to meet our social, exercise and interest preferences... Your input is welcomed as to how to do this!
Please contact the convenor agwalks@sbu3a.org.uk to get on the mailing list
