We are a very friendly crowd and are always pleased to welcome anyone who may be interested in joining us.
Our choice of subjects is widely varied and our talks come from volunteers in the group and also from occasional guest speakers. Talks are either given using computer presentations, talking about an item of memorabilia.
Recent talks have included Captain Scott’s expedition to Antarctica, The Plantagenets and Germany U-Boat Capture. Future talks are ‘Our Local Suffragettes’, ‘Blood, Guts and Gore’ and ‘King Edward III – Our Greatest King’.
We also organise trips to places of historic interest – recent visits have been to Winchester, Stratford-upon-Avon and Southwark Cathedral. Future plans are to visit Salisbury and St George’s Chapel, Windsor.
We have an interval break for coffee or tea, to give an opportunity to get to know other kindred spirits.
