Please note that all joining the Field Trips do so at own risk
This group meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 2.15pm.
In the warmer weather – hopefully from April to September – we go out on field trips, normally within a forty-mile radius of Beaconsfield. A typical outing would include a lunch at a pub or restaurant and then a visit to a site of interest geologically or archaeologically or both. Members of our group act as guides to these sites, or we have local experts to show us around.
In the cooler months we have a meeting in the Memorial Hall at Hedgerley, with lectures and workshops organised by members or outside speakers. These meetings are preceded by lunch at The White Horse for those who have the time to enjoy a good meal and a discussion about that day’s topic. We often visit museums in the winter, and may well use a coach for transport.
There is a small charge for visits if we use a coach or if we have to pay a guide or lecturer.
No deep knowledge of either subject is needed to join this group, but a real interest is certainly necessary. We are a very lively and friendly group and welcome new members, especially if they have ideas and interests to share.
