This popular Group, calling themselves 'SUBS' ( Somerton Ukulele Band & Singers) meets weekly on Thursday afternoons in the Parish Room.
This is a Group going places! Their first public performance took place in the Festival marquee during the Somerton Music & Arts Festival on Sunday 17th July 2016 when 'S.U.B.S. stood for Somerton Ukulele BEGINNERS! The Festival had been officially opened by Michael Eavis, the founder of the famous 'Glastonbury Festival', the previous Saturday. It is not thought that Mr Eavis was in the audience as the Group were not approached about appearing on the Pyramid stage but I'm sure it is only a matter of time!
Since their debut the band has continued to perform on the South West Stage and were asked back to the Market Day Celebrations at the Somerton Music and Arts Festival ever since. On top of this, members of the Group go out into the community providing music and song to a wide range of clubs and organisations.
