We are finding out about geology in general and studying regional geology in England, to understand how landscapes and building styles are shaped by the underlying rocks. We look at geological maps, pictures of rocks and quarries, fossils and formations. Members are asked to do a bit of reading and finding out in preparation for meetings, and they are encouraged to go and visit some of the many famous geological sites in this area, either as a group or individually. We keep an eye on geological events worldwide which are reported in the press.
We meet on the 3rd Tuesday afternoon of each month in the Parish Rooms. Everyone contributes to the costs, to helping with setting up and refreshments and we all contribute to discussions. Numbers are limited to 24 and there are usually one or two places available.
