Message from the new Chairman
Thank you so much for electing me to be Chairman of our U3A and a special thank you to Mamdooh for all his hard work for the last two years. Thank you also to all the committee and the Group convened for their contributions without which we would not survive.
I will really do my best to be worthy of your trust, but I have to say that everything that we do is really a matter of self-interest! Around 10 years ago shortly after I retired I walked into this room. I saw a lot of people who I now regard as friends some were around my age and some older. I looked around and saw lively intelligent people full of life and energy and I thought that if that is what U3A does for you, I'll have some of that! 10 years later I still feel that way.
People have said that we are the U3A with the older people and I answer them proudly. Yes, we are the U3A with a range of ages, all here to work together and contribute to our group, learning from each other.
Ours is still a U3A where we follow the motto, "Live, Laugh, Learn"
We are a growing and thriving community and I am very proud to have been asked to carry us forward into the third decade of the 21st Century.
