Page Turners' Book Group
We are the third book group as ‘Reading’ is a popular activity with our U3A members. We read a wide variety of books reflecting the tastes and interests of our group, which makes interesting discussions. We are presented with books that are non-fiction, function, humorous or crime. Some of the authors are new and others are well established, but perhaps we have not read their work – it can also encourage us to read more of their writing.
We start the meeting with coffee & biscuits and a general chat with each other. We take it in turns to recommend a book and that person starts the meeting with a short back ground summary of the author and their thoughts on the book. It is then opened up to general discussion. At the end of meeting we rate the books on a scale of 1 (not keen) to 5 (would read again and recommend to others).
Our Books for the remainder of the year are: A Life in the Day by Hunter Davies,Meet Me Under the Ombu Tree by Santa Montefiore, The Secret Life of Cows by Rosamund Young and Eleanor Oliphantis Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. As you can see we have a nice variety of books.
At the moment we have 8 members and would welcome new members; we meet in each other homes so could manage 3 or 4 new members.
We meet on the 1st Friday each month between 10-11.30am, please see Barbara Gibson for more information (see membership card for details),
