Recorder

This new U3A group actually formed 2 years ago as a group of friends wanting to learn to play the recorder. It soon became apparent that a few others known to various members of the group also wished to play the recorder with a group. Thus our group was formed and amongst this group were a few who could already play the recorder so we were well equipped to share this knowledge with those who had never played before or who had not picked up the recorder since their junior school days!!

There are currently seven members of the group who just happen also to be U3A members so it was decided to formally announce ourselves as a U3A interest group.

We have come a long way since that first meeting in September 2010 and now play as consort group using not only the descant recorder but the treble, tenor and bass recorder to give us that wonderful rich sound. We play a range of music but tend to focus more on Renaissance pieces which of course is what the recorder was typically associated with.

We have space for possibly 1 or 2 more players but given our standard now we would encourage those who can play a little already. Please use the contact form on the Welcome page to discuss more fully.
