Our first meeting has been held and seven of us met on a very windy afternoon at Jean and Dave Jardine's home and it was a very relaxing time.
We learnt how to evaluate wines, such as by sight; by sniff and perhaps best of all by taste. We discussed our favourite types of wine and some of our experiences tasting wine. We then had a blind tasting of two wines and most of us could tell the white was a Pinot Grigio and the red a Rioja. Then over some nibbles we discussed where we are going, future meetings on a third Thursday of the month, a visit to a vineyard, different types of wine to try, questions to research.
We have a new meeting place in the Hardie Park café, Stanford-le-Hope, so please come and join us if you would like to. We meet on the 3rd Thursday monthly at 2.00.pm
We have more room in the complex. We are planning to meet in the cafe about 1.30 for a light lunch and tea or coffee, if required.
If you would like to join us, please get in touch with us to let us know. We sample and learn about the various wines from around the world.
